woah.

the biggest loser challenge at work is coming to a close. i did not partake because everyone who did it had to put in $100 and there wasn't any chance of me winning because some of the guys had a LOT to lose. they started it january 1st, and now they're finishing up.

so far, the winner is ron, who lost 41lbs. that's crazy! he joined the same gym i go to, and he worked out every single day for 2 hrs a day...so i know he worked hard for it. i asked him if he'll keep at it as much after the competition and he said yes. maybe HE should be my workout buddy! :P

bruce is the other top contender....he doesn't weigh in until thursday, though, because he started that many days after everyone else. i know he was way over 300lbs to begin with, and i can tell he's lost weight, so it might be a close call.

yeah, as i told olivia, if i lost 41 lbs, i'd be an unhealthy waif! ;)

Men! I'm not surprised they are winning. Any female coworkers partake? How are the doing?

one female coworker, whose tactic was to "play dirty" by trying to get the guys to eat food that was bad for them. didn't really work.

she's not huge (i'm pretty sure she's lighter than me), and i think she already worked out, so it was a big difference from the guys who ate horribly and never worked out - which is probably why they lost so much weight. going from not working out to working out 2 hours a day is a big deal!

did they do it by percentage of body weight lost or just by pounds? But good for them--I think the focus of weight loss has been on women for so long that there's a stigma for men, so it's nice to see them really working a diet and exercise plan.

it was by percentage of body weight, but still, they had an advantage, because going from not working out at all to working out a TON is gonna be a big change.

whereas, i've been steadily working out and haven't really lost weight (i think i've lost inches, though! woo!)

ron did end up winning, and i'm proud of him, because i saw him trying so hard. AND i know he's sticking with it! he's using the money for his yearlong gym membership.

thanks for the comment, linda!
